Winter Color Guard

Color guard uses various equipment, including flags, mock rifles, and sabres, along with dance, to enhance the music of the marching band show. They perform using their facial expressions and dancing to make connections with the audience and to enhance the meaning and feeling of the marching band show. The Ravenwood fall color guard is a part of the marching band ensemble.
Winter guard is the indoor version of the marching band’s color guard. Color guard generally uses a combination of flags, sabers and mock rifles, along with costumes, props and dance, to add visual elements to a prerecorded musical piece. The RHS Winter Guard competes against area high schools and in regional competition on the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit. The season begins in November with rehearsals and competitions that typically conclude in late March.
